Amy Meinecke and Amy Baradell met in 2003 through the High Point Chapter of the WCAA (Window Coverings Association of America). At that time, they each had their own window treatment business. In July 2009 they joined their two businesses to form Window Works Studio, Inc.

Amy M

Meet Amy Meinecke, who has been sewing and home decorating for 23 years

In 2000 Amy M., as she is often referred, started her own window treatment business. She believes in continuing her education by attending conferences, and subscribing to trade journals. She is the founder of the High Point Chapter of the WCAA – an organization designed to provide support and education in the window covering industry.

Amy M. loves working with clients and enjoys getting to know them through the design process. She has worked with a wide variety of clients and a wide range of budgets. She has experience making custom window treatments, beddings, pillows, cushions, and slipcovers.

Q. What path led you down the road to owning Window Works Studio?

My first career was as a Registered Nurse. I worked in Critical Care for 10 years and then in a local Cardiology office for 6 years. My mother-in-law taught me to sew when I was pregnant with my first child. After that, I took classes and learned through practicing and experimenting. Growing up, I wanted to be a Nurse or an Interior Designer. In 2000, after many years in Nursing, I decided to fulfill my other dream and start my own business creating custom window treatments. I did this from my home until 2009, when I merged my business with Amy Baradell, creating Window Works Studio, Inc.

Q. What are you known for professionally?

I’m known as “the curtain lady!” Often, we work with clients that aren’t redecorating their entire room or house. But, they want new window treatments, bedding, etc. I have a “knack” for designing these new custom items so they blend well with the existing decor.

Q. Where can we find you when you’re not working?

I have been married for 32 years and still enjoy spending time with my husband! We enjoy spending time with our grown children, extended family and friends. About once a month we get together with a group of long time friends to play Bunco. Saturday nights are still “Date Night” for my husband and I to have dinner together. I also enjoy running at Salem Lake on the weekends.

Amy B

Meet Amy Baradell, who has been sewing professionally for 33 years.

In 1983 Amy B. obtained a degree in clothing and textiles from UNC-Greensboro and in 1987 she began her own custom window treatment business. She is very thankful that her business involves two things she enjoys: working with people, and creating beautiful things to enhance their lives. Her experience includes work with dance studios, theatrical groups, brides, home owners, interior designers, and furniture showrooms. She has designed dance costumes, historical costumes, weddings gowns, custom window treatments, bedding, and slipcovers.

Q. What path led you down the road to owning Window Works Studio?

I began sewing at a young age. The first project I remember is a pillow I made in the second grade for my Grandfather who had a stroke. I got involved with the drama department when I was in 7th grade and started designing and creating costumes. This led to my decision to major in Clothing and Textiles at UNC-G. After graduating in 1983, I began my career at a large costume shop in Schenectady, New York. After moving to Charleston, SC in 1987, I began working with designers to create custom window treatments in some of the historical homes located there. I continued to run a sewing business in my home until 2003 when I moved my studio to its present location in Jamestown, NC

Q. What makes you good at assisting clients?

My ability to look at things creatively. We assist clients in downsizing and are able to use what they have, add to it, remake it… to make something new for them.

Q. Where can we find you when you’re not working?

She enjoys spending time with her husband. They married in 2018 after being introduced by business partner, Amy Meinecke. They share a love for running and music. They have four grown children between them and enjoy traveling to see them. Amy enjoys hiking, running, cooking, and trying new local restaurants. She and her husband are members of Hope Chapel in Greensboro and enjoy serving the community with them.

Stephanie

Meet Stephanie – Design Consultant

Stephanie has lived in Greensboro for 22 years. Originally from Charlotte, she loves getting to be a part of the incredible growth of the city she now calls home. Her background is in Fashion Design, where she has over 20 years experience creating custom, sustainable, women’s apparel.

She has seamlessly made the transition to Interior Design with a focus on Window Treatments and Soft Furnishings. She has an inherent eye for design and bringing colors and fabrics together in harmony. Stephanie loves working with clients to help them find the perfect designs to work within their home functionally, and coordinating beautifully with their current décor; always with the ultimate goal of bringing them great joy for many years to come!

Stephanie is so excited to get to be part of the talented and amazing, Window Works Studio team. In her spare time she enjoys teaching sewing lessons, being with her family, taking walks in nature and treasure hunting for unique vintage clothing and fabrics.

Corazon

Meet Corazon – Window Treatment Fabricator

Corazon was born in the Philippines and went to Slims Fashion and Arts School, one of the best fashion schools in Manila, Philippines. She started sewing when her oldest daughter had programs in school, she made their costumes. After that, she set up her own shop in Manila, specializing in office uniforms, event costumes, and bridal wear.

Corazon moved to North Carolina in 2014. She is very grateful to be working with Window Works Studio, Sew4U, and the creative, supportive, and dedicated staff. In her spare time she enjoys watching reality tv, cooking, and listening to gospel music.

Kathy

Meet Kathy – Window Treatment Fabricator

Kathy comes to Window Works Studio from Charlotte after enjoying a rewarding 30 year career in Interior Design and Custom Window Treatment fabrication. She and her husband retired to Winston Salem to be closer to their children and grandchildren, but it wasn’t long before she found herself drawn back to the design and fabrication process. As a retired IDS Professional she is committed to harmonizing each client’s needs, dreams and budget to reflect their distinctive style. “It is an honor to be working alongside the talented, dedicated team at Window Works Studio” When not spending time with her grandchildren Kathy enjoys visiting with family and friends, reading and culinary exploration with her daughter.

Annagozel

Meet Annagozel – Window Treatment Fabricator

Annagozel worked as a designer and tailor in a small family owned company in Turkmenistan. She had over ten years experience there. As a designer she focused on women’s dresses and jackets. She is now proud to be a part of the Window Works team and is dedicated to exceeding our customers expectations.

Jennifer

Meet Jennifer – Window Treatment Fabricator

Jennifer started sewing at a young age, taught by her mother and grandmother. She has always had a good eye and is very articulate with her work. She has been employed in various fields within the years, ranging from industrial, commercial, and alterations/tailoring. She is now here at window works using her knowledge and skills to craft top quality window treatments.

Jennifer is living in Greensboro, NC and is attending UNCG. She hopes to graduate with a bachelors in social work and eventually peruse a masters in counseling. In her free time she loves to travel, cook, and sing.

Megan

Meet Megan – Window Treatment Fabricator

Megan was raised in High Point and taught how to sew by her mother. After years of sewing for herself, her interest in sewing increased when she started sewing dresses for her daughter. Megan took her passion for handmade clothing and turned it into a business selling children’s clothing. She’s excited to start her new journey and join the excellent team at Window Works Studio.
