Amy
Meinecke
began her custom window treatment business, the
Stitch Niche, in 2000 in Lincoln, NE. After moving
back to North Carolina, she re-established her business
and changed the name to The Elegant Window to
better reflect her specialty in couture drapery design.
Amy continues her education in the art of drapery making
and design by attending professional conferences and
seminars and subscribing to trade journals. Amy is the
founding member of the
WCAA
High Point chapter (Window Coverings Association of
America) which provides support and education for
this industry.
Amy
Gilbert
began her
custom window treatment business in 1987 as she worked
with designers in the Charleston, SC area. Her degree in
clothing and textiles from UNC-Greensboro encouraged her
love for fabrics, fabrication, and design. Moving to New
York in 1989 enabled Amy to continue her business,
providing custom window treatments and bedding. In 1997
she returned to North Carolina working out of her home.
She then opened the Piedmont Parkway studio in 2003,
where Refining Design has provided custom window
treatments and interior design services.
The two Amy's met in 2003 through the
WCAA
and through local networking groups. In July 2009 they
joined their two existing businesses to form
Window
Works Studio, Inc.
They are excited to bring their years of skilled
craftsmanship and love of design together at Window
Works Studio!
